Initially, Piers took a cautious “wait for the investigation” stance, while condemning the lack of humanity shown toward Renee. That restraint, however, contrasts with how quickly he often defends Trump when situations favor him. As more footage emerged, Piers openly questioned why the ICE agent felt an urgent need to use deadly force, rejecting MAGA claims that the shooting was clearly justified.
Over the following days, Piers became more direct, forcefully pushing back against Trump officials labeling Renee a “domestic terrorist.” He called that claim ridiculous and highlighted the hypocrisy—pointing out that if she were a Trump supporter, the same people would be defending her.
Ultimately, this moment exposed the cracks in Piers Morgan’s usual Trump-friendly posture. While he often grades Trump on a curve, this case was so disturbing that even Piers couldn’t fully defend the MAGA narrative. Whether he confronts Trump directly when his show returns remains to be seen.
