The daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and the niece of John F. Kennedy pointed out the irony in Trump naming a center for the expression of art after himself when his entire administration has been focused on repression, censoring new ideas, and cruelty.

Kerry wrote on Twitter that “President Trump and his administration have spent the past year repressing free expression, targeting artists, journalists, and comedians, and erasing the history of Americans whose contributions made our nation better and more just.”

“President Kennedy proudly stood for justice, peace, equality, dignity, diversity, and compassion for those who suffer. President Trump stands in opposition to these values, and his name should not be placed alongside President Kennedy’s.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. It is beyond pathetic to see how Trump obsesses over the Kennedy legacy, desperately trying to hook himself into the Kennedy coattails in a wildly insecure and obvious jealous attempt to leech away some of the respect, aura, and class that accompanies that historied name.

He knows he will never be as beloved as the Kennedys, or be as respected as the Kennedys, and that knowledge eats at him every day. But as a weak and insecure man, he can’t help but try to ape their legacy in any way that he can. Kudos to Kerry Kennedy for calling him out like this.
